Gourmet Casserole

1 lb ground beef
1 tsp oil
1-14oz can diced tomatoes
1-8oz can tomatoe sauce
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
4 med. mushrooms, sliced
1 garlic clove, pressed
2 tsp salt, or less
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup burgundy wine
6 oz egg noodles
1-3oz pkg cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 350F. Heat up oil & cook meat till no longer pink, breaking
it up as it cooks. Drain off fat. Stir in tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, green
peppers, mushrooms, garlic, salt, pepper, sugar & wine. Reduce heat to low
& simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
Cook noodles according to directions & drain. Combine cream cheese, sour
cream & onions then stir into noodles.
Spread 1/3 of the meat mixture over bottom of 3qt casserole dish. Cover with
half the noodles. Repeat layers ending with meat. Sprinkle top with sharp
cheddar cheese. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until hot & bubbly. Serve.
