Savory Sausage Balls
1 egg, lightly beaten
1lb. hot/mild bulk pork sausage
1/2c. herb stuffing mix
1/4tsp. rubbed sage
1/2c. water
1/4c. ketchup
1/4c. chili sauce
2tbs. packed brown sugar
1tbs. soy sauce
1tbs. vinegar
Recipe can be prepared ahead of time. Cover and refrigerate or freeze until ready to serve. Bake, covered, with sauce in 350º oven 30-35 min. or till heated through. In med. bowl, combine egg, sausage, stuffing, and sage. Mix thoroughly. Shape into 1" balls. Add to large skillet. Cook over medium heat, turning occasionally, 5-8 min. or till browned on all sides. Remove from skillet. Drain on paper towels. Drain fat from skillet. Discard. Add water, ketchup, chili sauce, sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar to skillet. Stir well. Return meatballs to skillet. Stir to coat. Bring to a boil over med.-high heat. Cover. Reduce heat to med.-low. Simmer 30 min., stirring occasionally. Transfer to chafing dish, if desired. Serve w/ wooden toothpicks. Yield about 24 meatballs
